With women in mind

What’s a woman working in real estate to do? Social networking as a phenomenon has had huge ramifications for social and business interactions alike. In the social sphere, social networking sites have allowed the summarizing of peoples’ lives to just one page, turning them into objects that we choose as friends in order to also define ourselves. And in the business sphere, networking sites often translate into meaningful business relationships – sales, partnerships, employment, to name a few.

Yet there was no site devoted to networking for women until the recent launch of a witty site that is aimed at capturing this niche. The company aims to serve this completely underserved segment to allow women professionals the opportunity to leverage each others’ knowledge and relationships much in the same way that men have done using LinkedIn and other resources.

Men may be somewhat skeptical of the idea of a site especially for women – after all, other sites aren’t exclusive by gender. But skeptics fail to realize that in cyberspace, professional women are women first to any would-be acquaintances, so a network restricted to women will ensure that relationships stay professional – and in line.
