We all think about it but never talk about it. What if things really got ugly, if the doomsday scenario played out. What then? Would you be prepared? Being prepared for a disaster means having the things you would need to stay cooped up in a small, probably underground place, for days, if not months, until things were somehow improved. A doomsday scenario would present obvious challenges to survival, not the least of which should be satisfying basic needs like the need for food and water.
To be properly prepared, you need to have enough calories and enough drinkable water to survive for at least a year in the event of a disaster. Special water filters and survival food are manufactured and are available for purchase online as part of emergency preparedness kits or a la carte. Survival food contains a tremendous number of calories and vitamins that will allow you stay nourished on an amount of food that occupies a minimal amount of space. In addition to keeping this sort of food on hand, it would also be prudent to keep some cash, a first aid kit, a radio, and some blankets on hand, as well as any other essential medications. Just a small amount of preparation in the form of a disaster kit for the home and the car will give you peace of mind and put the horrible images of this scenario, which play on repeat in your nightmares, to rest.
